Relationship Reflection
"The important thing in any relationship is not what you get but what you give."
Eleanor Roosevelt
Relationships are the things that have kept
me centered, happy and enthusiastic about
continuing the journey of whatever lies
ahead.
Throughout my life I have had the privilege
of a very strong bond with my family. My relationship with my parents continues
to help me grow. Their trust and belief in me continues to help me shine. When
you are surrounded by people that believe that you can shine, chances are you
will. Although my brother is an ocean away from me, the connection is still
there…a message away from advice or a laugh….true relationships are bonds and
connections that are there no matter the circumstances…trusting that you have
people there for you no matter what, builds a sense of trust and a foundation
to build your entire life on. Family….home…the place where I reconnect with my
inner-self…where I can be me. My
relationship with my husband and children is something I cherish deeply. A relationship
built with trust and mutual respect is a relationship that keeps us together and
offers each member support when needed. An essential element of our relationship
is communication. Having an open communication and sustaining it is extremely
important. Fun….there is nothing better
that a good laugh…we dance, laugh and have a lot of fun together. It is true
that it is the simple things that bring the greatest joy.
Friends and colleagues are another reason of
joy. Respect, trust and open communication are key to a strong relationship of
any kind. Challenges may arise along the way…although I tend to see things in a
positive way. All problems that may arise build even stronger relationships.
Communication is one way to overcome
challenges.
Trust and
open communication are important factors of building stable
relationships.
I am greatly fortunate for all of the people
that I know and love, trust and respect because it has been through these
relationships that I have learned how to be patient, to listen, to respect, to
not judge…important attributes for an early childhood educator working with
children and families on a daily basis.
Hi Ana
ReplyDeleteI love the quote that you picked by Eleanor Roosevelt. That quote is true about life. Relationships are so important. It is good when you have family to share them with. Communication can overcome challenges. It is better to talk than to assume.

Hi Ana -
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your relationship reflection. I find it amazing that even though you have family overseas that you still know that relationship is still just a phone call away. I agree with what you said about your relationship with your husband. Communication is the key to a great relationship. With my son and husband we have wonderful communication that helps keeps us informed of how we are doing throughout the week. It sounds like you have the best of positive relationships!

Hello Ana.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree that strong family bonds are important. Having their love and support can be very motivating and uplifting. I believe that what you give in relationships is important to maintaining it. If both parties are giving 100% in any given relationship, the more invested they are in nurturing it. Great quote and post!
