My Support

No one can function on their own, nor should anyone want to for that matter. We are human and an important part of being human is our ability work with others, to help others and to receive support from others. As I think about my life, I realize that I am extremely fortunate to haves such a wonderful support system. I have always been independent and very rarely asked for help, I preferred being up until very late to complete a task that to ask for help or an extension. However, I am now a mother, a daughter, a wife, a teacher, a learning leader, a student  and a friend and no way is it possible for me to be able to do EVERYTHING on my own. I rely on my husband for minding the children in the morning and taking my daughter to school, I rely on the babysitter to take care of my son during the day, I rely on my mother to help with my son if I am late coming home because of meetings and the babysitter needs to leave, I rely on my entire family for love, hugs and kisses and fun, I rely on my assistant to help out done in the classroom, I rely on the cleaning lady to do the cleaning at school, I rely on so many people when I stop and think about it that it almost feels that I would not be able to function without all of the support from people that care about me. Here go some more….I rely on my telephone to wake me up in the morning at 5:30, I rely on my calendar and laptop to remind me of meeting and things I need to do. Wow, those are a lot of sentences that begin with I rely on….a bit scary I guess.

If I did not have that support I most definitely would not be earning my Masters, I probably would not even be teaching and I would probably have to give up many things that are very important to me. However I would always have my family to offer support because that is what families do and that is the support I could NEVER live without!
